Item#1: DAV
Thad gave Tom L. and Denny O. the flyer by the DAV. They would like to know if we would consider giving away a free membership to the club.
Item #2 Responsibilities of the VP: As VP Denny O. has been doing a good job in maintaining the field and getting volunteers. Tom asked the question whether or not it was fair that he should have to do field maintenance and the club programs? It was suggested that we make another position for someone to do the club programs. It was also suggested that Denny remain in charge of the club programs but delegate it out to others and not try to do everything himself. It was voted on and the language of the VP description to put him in charge of delegating the club programs. Please pay attention to this when the new descriptions come out.
Item#3: Volunteer Hours: It was brought up should we give people a break if they don’t meet their hours due to a sudden health change. No decision was voted on it. It was determined that the current hours need to be sent out every month to the membership. It was suggested that next year we should seriously consider changing the hours to credits. We intend to come up with a list of things that can be done for the club their credit value for each item and a total number of credit required per year. We intend to have a sign up for these responsibilities on the first club meeting of the year. It was agreed that those that don’t meet this years hours should have to pay for not meeting their hours. It was suggested either to pay full price next year or that we send out a invoice to them for the difference yet this year before the end of the year. It was also suggested that we give those people that did make an attempt to get some hours a discount based on the hours/10 total hours required. Nothing was voted on. It was brought up that it was also Denny O. responsibility to make sure it got policed, whether he did it or delegated it out. It was also brought up that it would probably require policing it for the first couple of years. We need to remind the membership that Harry R. is doing the best he can to keep track of the working members hours but there are 50+ members to track. Check the current hours totals and if he has missed some hours for you please don’t get offended just let him now and he’ll correct it. We want to make a list of all the items the members can get credits/hours for and approve it by the end of the year. I have started a list at the end please add to it.
Item#4: Safety at the Field: It was brought up that all members need to continue using the frequency board it is for everyone’s safety and is necessary for a checks and balance to make sure people are members and have their AMA card. It was brought up that we’d like to look at changing how we do the cards/frequency board for members that fly 2.4. It was suggested to maintain the frequency board, but have card-pins or card lanyards that could just stay on you in visibility at all times. This might be nice getting to now everyone’s name and whether they were a member or not. It was suggested to change the color of the card yearly to distinguish if the member was current. All agreed this would be discussed, but that nothing would change for this year. Tom L. informed us that Stan T. has resigned as safety officer. The board took up an emergency vote for a new safety officer and Jim Bowers Jr was nominated to finish out the year. We are all reminded to try and be safe at the field and remind others of safety issues and field rules. Please be considerate to others that forget and tack full in how you remind them. The goal is for everyone to get along and have fun safely.
